SHAH ALAM, 17 JUNE 2023 – Kejohanan Silat Kebangsaan 2023 competition is expecting 300 participants from fourteen local and international silat clubs in Malaysia. This competition will be officiated by Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari, Patron of the Pertubuhan Seni Gayung Fatani Malaysia (PSGFM) on the 17th June 2023 at U8 Space, Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam, Selangor. Also present at the ceremony were FSR Dean, Associate Professor Dr Raja Mohammed Firhad Raja Azidin, Professor Dr Shahriman Zainal Abidin, Assistant Vice Chancellor (UiTM Global), GM Mohd Safwan Abu Hassan, Chairman (PSGFM), Professor Dr Mohamad Rahizam Abdul Rahim, Deputy Dean of FSR (HEP), Dr Shariman Ismadi Ismail, Deputy Dean of FSR (HEA), and GM Professor Madya Dr Mohamad Nizam Mohamed Shapie, President of Persekutuan Silat Olahraga Nasional Malaysia (PESONA). YB Senator Mohd Hasbie Bin Muda, a Member of the National Assembly, officiated the closing ceremony on the 18th June 2023.
The objectives of the event will focus on several things including returning silat as a medium of unity in Malaysia, aimed on strengthening silat as Malaysia’s official self-defense art as the nation’s heritage, while promoting Malaysia’s heritage and culture to the world community of martial arts, and to champion research collaboration, activities and programs with global partners around the world. Kejohanan Silat Kebangsaan 2023 is organized by Martial Arts & Combat Research Network, Faculty of Sports and Recreation Science (FSR), UiTM, Pertubuhan Gayung Fatani Malaysia (PSGFM), and Persekutuan Silat Olahraga Nasional Malaysia (PESONA).
The Kejohanan Silat Kebangsaan 2023 event will take place over two days from the 17th to the 18th of June 2023 at U8 Space in Bukit Jelutong, Selangor. This event is expected to expand UiTM’s global martial arts network in Malaysia and showcase Malaysia as the Malay martial arts capital of the world.
